Book #54

I Have More Souls Than One by Fernando Pessoa

Dramatic, lyrical and ranging over four distinct personae, these poems by one of Portugal's greatest poets trace a mind shaken by intense suffering and a tireless search for meaning.

A book of poetry from Pessoa’s four alter egos, personalities, other selves, something like that.

Where they are similar in voice, they differ in tone, and seem to be foils for one another. That was pretty much all I picked up.

My poetry analysis skills seem to be going backwards in their capability and I’m unsure at which stage I give up this fruitless learning curve.
